Exploring A Classic
Following on from my last post, I am so excited to share with you what has to be the most fantastic V&A exhibition yet! If you haven’t been, it is simply wonderful and worth a visit to experience the Winnie-the-Pooh stories brought to life through sketches, letters and photographs.
Growing up in East Sussex near to Ashdown Forest, the home of Winnie-the-Pooh, I have always been inspired by the stories and illustrations. My parents read the stories to me at bedtime, and often took me and my sisters to Pooh Bridge to play Pooh Sticks and explore the forest. It has always felt such a magical place to me, and is one of my biggest inspirations to this day.
Seeing E.H.Shepard’s wonderful original illustrations was really quite overwhelming and bought tears to my eyes. I left feeling quite emotional, and utterly inspired to draw more of my own children’s characters. I also went quite crazy with my camera and snapped so may shots that it was difficult to select just a few, but here were my personal highlights… Enjoy!
